Session Description:
As IT professionals, we have heard over and over again that we need to be
Networking with other people in the industry. According to the U.S. Bureau of
Labor Statistics, 70 percent of all jobs are found through Networking. But what
does “Networking” really mean? Is it as simple as creating a LinkedIn profile?
Is it sending email? Is it going to meetings?
It’s an undeniable fact that many IT geeks are far more comfortable dealing with
computer interfaces than with living, breathing people. And the dirty little
secret hidden by even some experienced IT managers is that they haven’t truly
engaged with the important mission of establishing and growing their
professional network. It’s uncomfortable, it’s unfamiliar, and what the heck do
you do?
Join Michael Fisher as he shares the basics of building a Professional Network.
You’ll learn what Professional Networking is and isn’t, some tips to employ and
pitfalls to avoid, and you’ll come away with 5 steps to establishing your own
Professional Network. You will walk away from this session with the confidence
and perspective to get out from behind your computer screen and jump-start your
own Professional Network.
